Adlershof Institute of Physics

The building of the Institute of Physics of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin was completed in 2003 and was awarded the Architecture Prize Berlin 2003.

Various innovative measures were implemented during the construction of the Institute of Physics. The focus is on the overall ecological concept of decentralised rainwater management, combined with the cooling of the building by greening the façade. Excess water is collected in a pond in the inner courtyard, evaporated or drained away. The institute building has no connection to the rainwater canal. Scientific evaluations of the TU Berlin show that the resource efficiency and operating cost savings are worth mentioning.
