The EUREF-Campus with its 5.5 hectare belongs to the most important technology- and research locations in Berlin and is largely considered to be a reference location for international companies and start-ups from the energy-, sustainable development-, and mobility section. The campus especially promotes ecologically and economically sustainable solutions that are fit for the future and environmentally friendly at the same time. International companies have established themselves at the campus (including, for instance, Deutsche Bahn, Cisco, General Electric, etc.), start-ups and research institutions (such as the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change, the Climate-KIC, etc.), whose aim it is to develop mutually innovative and intelligent solutions for the city of the future. This location represents also a symbol for the energy revolution nationwide and since 2014 has already fulfilled the planned climate objectives of the Federal Government set for 2050.
